Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Baked teriyaki chicken on top of white rice on a plate


Chicken breasts, or thighs, smothered in a sweet and tangy homemade teriyaki sauce and baked in the oven. Serve Baked Teriyaki Chicken over rice for a complete meal!

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breast or thighs
  • 1 tablespoon corn starch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 425. Line a baking dish with parchment or foil. Place the chicken in the baking dish and set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, whisk together the corn starch, water, sugar, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and sesame seeds. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium high heat. Simmer 3-5 minutes, or until thickened.
  3. Remove the sauce from the heat and pour it over the chicken, covering the chicken completely. Bake 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through. Serve over rice.
